Phase II Environmental Site Assessment

Phase II Environmental Site Assessment

When an initial Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) identifies potential hazardous substances or petroleum products on a site, a Phase II ESA may be performed to further investigate the findings. A Phase II ESA is a voluntary process that includes soil and water testing to evaluate known or suspect releases. Laboratory test results can be used to establish a baseline of contaminants before a real estate transaction or before a new construction project.  A Phase II ESA can also be used to estimate the cost of future cleanups.

Ellis has performed numerous Phase II ESA's to test for the presence of petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH), heavy metals, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and hazardous substances. We work closely with the Department of Toxic Substance Control, Regional Water Board, and other agencies to ensure that both protocol and results of our site testing will be accepted.   Our field assessments and reports are directed and overseen by a California-certified professional geologist.
