Ellis has trained staff who are knowledgeable in the components, operation and maintenance of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. Inspections of air handling units, whether roof–mounted package units or larger units within a mechanical room, can be useful to determine overall cleanliness and operability of the units. Inspections include removing all accessible panels, not secured with sealant, in order to perform a thorough visual inspection of filters, insulation, cooling coils, condensate pan, the motor and more. These units often get overlooked because of their inconspicuous location. Inspections sometimes reveal disconnected/broken condensate lines, dirty or improperly installed filters, damaged fiberglass insulation, mold growth, malfunctioning motor/belts, etc.

The RotoVision®, used to inspect ducting, includes a small video camera, recording device and monitor. The camera is capable of being extended 60 feet into a duct or drain line. The video system is useful for assessing the condition of the ducting to determine if the system needs cleaning. If cleaning is necessary, the RotoVision® is useful for prioritizing. Some buildings or systems may require cleaning efforts immediately, while others may be deferred. Once the project is complete, you should have the project inspected by an independent third party, to insure that the cleaning was actually performed. Finally, the system has the ability to visually identify mold growth in a duct system - or eliminate it as a cause for concern.
