PEAs.JPGAdministered by the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), a PEA "provides basic information for determining if there has been a release of a hazardous substance that presents a risk to human health or the environment." A PEA requires that an initial work plan be presented to and approved by the DTSC. This is followed by soils testing and, whenever contaminants are identified, supplemental site investigations and soils remediation. The entire PEA process can require up to 3 years for completion.  Ellis has successfully completed more than 20 PEA-related projects on behalf of southern California school districts.
