As this 10-story office building was being constructed, installation of interior wallboard began before the roof was completely sealed. Predictably, heavy rains inundated the building, flowing down through stairwells and conduit. The contractor failed to address the fact that mold is almost certain to grow inside a wet wall space. Approximately 3 weeks later, visible mold began showing on floors that were being readied for occupancy. The contractor’s efforts to treat the moldy surfaces with bleach were also unsuccessful, and Ellis was retained by the building owner to redirect his efforts.
